Why is good web design so important?

With any business, presenting the correct image is of great importance regardless of whether you're a shop owner, a financial advisor, a door-to-door sales person or trading on the internet.

If you owned a shop, you'd keep your premises clean and tidy and you'd display your products in a way that would maximise sales.  A financial adviser or door-to-door sales person would not only demonstrate extensive knowledge in their respective areas, but would also adopt a smart & clean appearance and a polite manner to give the best impression.  And first impressions do count.

Presenting a good impression to your potential customers & clients is equally important when promoting your services on the internet.  All too often people assume they only need a website to enter the world of e-commerce.  Having a well designed, easy to use website is one of the main factors involved in running any successful on-line business.

Why is site accessibility so important?

UK law now states that all businesses should provide access for all.  This includes online e-commerce businesses.  10% of Britain's population suffer from some form of visual impairment.  10% of the British population is a large number of people, or potential customers.  So why make life hard for them? If they find it hard to see your website, they'll simply look for a website they can use and shop elsewhere.  Creating a website which is accessible for all makes good business sense as you're increasing the catchment area of your potential customers.

Why are good quality product images so important?

For the same reasons as good page content, design and accessibility, high quality images can have a huge impact on the number of sales you receive.  Most consumers like to have a good look at the products you provide before they commit to buying them.  If your product images are not up to scratch, you may as well show your customers the door.  Out of focus or poorly lit images, or in many cases, images which don't display may as well be replaced with an image saying "shop elsewhere".  Search for any product on e-bay, have a look at the items which are ending soon yet still have no bids.  You'll notice most of them have either dark or blurred photos, or no image at all.  People generally will not buy what they cannot have a look at.

Accessible website design

Having a successful background in search engineering and page optimisation, our web design service is second to none.  All our websites and pages are built with the search engines in mind.  Using CSS external style sheets we keep the source code of each page down to a minimum, giving each page a high content to code ratio.  Highly optimised web pages are standard practice at DT Internet Services.  So you're on the first rung of the ladder to high rankings from the start.
